For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present,
nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)
Dear brothers, sisters, and siblings in Christ,
Last week I wrote to you, assuring you that we would continue to gather together for worship, to support, encourage, and pray for each other during this difficult moment in time. However, the situation regarding COVID-19 continues to evolve at a rapid pace, and it is now evident that doing our part to slow the spread of this virus means suspending our in-person worship services for the current time. Our Abundant Life Lutheran Core Leadership team, acting on the direction from our national and synodical bishops and Manitoba Health directives, have decided to suspend all in-person worship services at Abundant Life at the current time. We hope to resume worship services in time for Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but of course this depends on the status of the pandemic at that time.
Suspending in-person worship services, however, does not mean that we are “cancelling church.” In fact, during this time of disorientation and isolation, we are called to be the church – the Body of Christ – more than ever. We can still find creative ways to stay connected, to worship and pray together. One of the ways we will do this is by providing “church online” – posting video recordings of worship services, as well as bulletins, sermons, and prayers for use at home or in small groups. Please watch out for these resources in your email inbox, on Facebook, and on our website. We will also do our best to provide print copies of bulletins, prayers and sermons to our members who do not have internet access.
The church building will be open, and Pastor Jeremy will be available for prayer or pastoral care on Sundays from 8:30 – 11:00 am. Furthermore, Pastor Jeremy will be at the church during regular office hours (Tuesday 1 – 4 pm, Wednesday 9-12 pm), and you are welcome to stop in to pray in the sanctuary, or to have a conversation with the pastor.
Furthermore, we hope to start a phone tree, to ensure that we remain connected as a church family.
Pastor Jeremy will continue to provide pastoral care during this time.
Feel free to contact him at 204-995-2350 (cell) or
We thank you in advance for your patience as we make this shift to an “online” church format. We’ll be doing a lot of learning as we go along. If you have any questions about this, please contact your council chair, Kim Scherger at:

In these uncertain times, many of us are experiencing a heightened sense of anxiety, frustration, disorientation, and isolation. I encourage you to continue to reach out to one another, to hold one another in prayer, to phone, text, Facetime, send cards and letters and emails. Continue to walk in compassion, kindness, and love. Take good care of one another. And remember God’s promise, that Christ is present with us in every moment.
Do not fear, for I am with you,
do not be afraid, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
In Christ’s Peace,
