Membership at Abundant Life
Through Baptism, individuals are received into the family of Christ and enter into membership in a specific faith community. Confirmation (Affirmation of Baptism) is the rite by which an individual enters into full, voting membership in the congregation. At ALL, this usually takes place in 11th grade. Adults, following a period of study, may also become members by Affirmation of Baptism or Confession of Faith. Individuals can transfer their membership from another Lutheran or Anglican congregation. Membership entitles one to vote on decisions about the life of Abundant Life at annual and other congregational meetings, and to serve as a delegate to synod and national conventions. The members of Abundant Life hail mainly from the communities of Bird’s Hill, East St. Paul, St. Clements and Winnipeg. They are life-long Lutherans, have come from other faith traditions, or have not grown up in the church at all but now find a meaningful connection with Christ through the people and ministries here.
