Groups at Abundant Life
Music: There are opportunities for singers and musicians who
wish to join one of the music teams, or to participate
occasionally, to share their gifts during worship or other community events.
Youth: Coolest Youth Group (age 12-19) has a couple of
events/activities a month, September-May. This year several youth are attending the national youth gathering in Whitehorse, YT. (see more at the Youth link)
Service & Mission: A group of volunteers serves the Lutheran Urban
Ministry in a variety of ways, from sandwich-making, community support, to leading worship/music, serving meals, and serving on the board. Others support the work of NEST (North End Sponsorship Team) in orienting and settling new immigrants and refugees. In addition, Gals of God meet monthly, September to May, for prayer and service activities.
Garden Club: We are in process of developing some of the land behind the church for a community garden. Interested people work the garden while harvest and proceeds are shared between ALL and missions such as Winnipeg Harvest. This year we hope to have some NEST families involved in growing their own vegetables.
MOVE (ministry/mobilization of volunteer energy): Teams
organize for various prep and assisting roles in
worship and coffee fellowship each week. Currently 3
MOVE teams rotate on a monthly basis.
Working committees of the congregation include: Worship,
Community Service, Outreach Mission, Property, Youth,
Stewardship, Christian Education, Mutual Ministry and Nominating.
Core Leadership Team: A congregational council with reps from each of these committees provides leadership and management.
